Britain concerned over escalating violence in Georgia

British Foreign Minister David Miliband condemned the military strikes Russia on Georgia, saying that the recent bombing took place far from the territory of South Ossetia.

Miliband said that on Monday morning he talked with its "international colleagues" and that "they are deeply concerned about escalating violence in Georgia", transmits Reuters.

"British representatives in Georgia and the media have reported that Russia now fighting with advanced far beyond South Ossetia, attacking Georgian port of Poti and the town of Gori, a Georgian, Abkhaz troops shelled positions in the upper Kodori Valley. I speak against this ", - Miliband said.

Miliband urged Russia to accept the proposal of the Georgian government for a ceasefire, which he described as "very welcome".
